Las Vegas Athletic Club
Deceptive Business Practices

Health & Medicine

We have spent the last 3 months trying to cancel our membership with the Las Vegas Athletic Club.

When we originally joined - the sales person told us that we would be able to cancel our membership without penalty if: it were for medical reasons, or we moved farther than 50 miles from a facility. He told us not to bother reading the entire small print contract, we could trust him.

In fact, we moved to another state - and have sent them our relocaton information on numerous occassions.in addition, we have spent countless hours on the phone trying to get this membership canceled.

Now the facility says they don't have to cancel our contract - that we should have read the contract. They say they are not responsible for what their sales representatives are saying — it's up to the consumer to read the contract regardless.

If we still lived in Nevada I would make it my mission to continously make the rounds to their facility and have their sales reps go through the entire sales speil. When it came time to sign the contract, I would painstakingly get out my glasses, and ask them to sit there with me for the 3 hours it would take to read the entire contract. At that point, I would, of course, not be able to agree to their terms, and not sign. Perhaps someone out there would like to give them a dose of their own medicine.
