Won't honor rebate. Rip-off!

I bought a NetGear wireless router and adapter at Best Buy which had a manufacturers mail-in rebate for half of the purchase price. I sent in everything they asked for in their instructions, but never got my rebate.

I contacted NetGear after 9 weeks, but they told me that they did not recieve the UPC code from the box. Did I keep the box so I could send them a copy of the UPC code they asked? Do you keep empty boxes for 9 weeks? Then they tell me that they did get the UPC code, but it was a copy, not the original. (I did include the original UPC in what I sent them). Then they wanted me to get the UPC from Best Buy and fax it to them. Apparently, NetGear thinks "fax" means "teleport" since a fax would still be a copy, not the original. Best Buy was no help, telling me to follow NetGear's dim-witted procedures.

Anyone not living on Lollipop Lane knows this money is gone. Best Buy and NetGear do not practice customer service, only customer pacification.
