Charges to "reconnect"

Electronics and household app.

I have had an ongoing problem with verizon and their "Re-connect fees". I have 4 devices on my account, a family plan. There has been a few times I was a couple of days late on my payment.

When I went online to pay I noticed there were "re-connect" fees applied. They were $15 for EACH device, so we are talking $60 every time this happens.

My phone has NEVER been disconnected as I said, payments were not extremely late.

I can understand them charging this if my phone was physically disconnected, but it wasn't, so why charge a "re-connect" fee?

To make more money... I guess.

I am very upset about this, and am sure it has happened to others.
