Price Guanartee is worthless

In September, I called Directv about possible installation. Since we had experience bill 'creep' with Dish TV, I was intrigued by the one year price guarantee and a slightly higher price for the second year. When I spoke to representative, I asked very pointed questions about the price guarantee. They kept reassuring me that my bill each month would be so many $. They said the price would not go up unless I purchased such extras as sports packages, pay for view movies, etc. They said this unequivocally several times.

After a few months, I noticed that the bill had increased $5.00. I saw that they had added a charge for an extended warranty on the receiver/s that I had never authorized. They agreed that I had not signed anything related to an extended warranty.

After 6 months, they increased the charge per receiver so the bill increased $5.00 again. I called the company and said this was unethical since I had been guaranteed a price for the entire year and a slightly higher price the second year. They argued that they only guaranteed the price of the services or cable packages, not things such as receivers. I tried to explain that was't what I was told on the phone when I called about the services. If they had been honest, I would never have went forward with Directv.in essence, they could increase the price of renting a receiver to outlandish costs in order to increase my costs. It appears that the sky is the limit for how far they can increase my bill per month despite my price guarantee.

I am a very conscientious consumer who takes copious notes regarding purchases. I feel that Directv is very unethical in regards to this Price Guarantee.
