I purchased the D2X Nikon camera, SN 5046622, on Ebay in April. I used this equipment for all of last year and it worked perfectly until about 2 month ago. The camera had a software problem. I decided to sent it in for repair, Nikon repair facility in Melville, NY After four weeks with no respond from the Nikon, I contacted them and found out the Nikon, whose customer service is in another country (Dominican Republic). Another two weeks gone by with phone tags and I finally have a bad new from Cory Devereaux, Nikon Inc. Senior National Service Manager. He said that the D2X camera is a stolen property and he will not return the camera back to me. I wrote to him a letter and provided proof of purchase and method of payment. Two weeks later I received a letter from him saying the same thing but never provide any proof of stolen property. Like Bryan from Ohio reports in this web site, I feel Nikon Inc steals the camera out of my hand. They do not have a better security to catch the thief that should not be my issue, I am not a thief. I bought and paid for the camera and therefore I am the owner of the property. The camera registered with Nikon Inc. Under my name. Nikon Inc. Is the thief. As the consumers we should let all Nikon users be aware of this illegal act. These incidents should be reported to the local authority and widely disseminating on all Nikon product web sites.
