Hitachi is ripping off consumers! Hitachi sells defective products - buyers beware!

I purchased the Hitachi 50" LCD projection TV (50V715) on 6/19/05. Several weeks ago a large yellow circle appeared in the middle of the screen.

After doing extensive research and calling a local repair office I found out the issue is a defective light engine, a KNOWN DEFECT in this model as well as MANY OTHER Hitachi TVs.

Hitachi has known about the defect since early 2005. They continued to sell the products as is. The replacement part is $400, installation is $300.

I wrote to Hitachi Customer Service and the corporate office in Japan. Their response: "since the product only has a one year warranty this issue is not covered".

Even after receiving thousands of complaints, Hitachi has refused to do anything to make the situation right. A class action lawsuit has now been filed... Please see the link below and email the law firm if you would like to participate:
