Illegal Insurances Practices By Asurion and Sprint Springfield

I walked into a Sprint store about 10 months ago to purchase the Samsung Instinct. The Sprint Rep told me about the insurance on the handset. "It's only $3 per month and there's only a $50 deductible. My phone was recently stolen. I went to file a claim, just to find that Sprint/Asurion has now doubled my deductible w/o my consent.insurance law in PA is very specific that you must obtain written permission from the insured BEFORE making policy changes.in addition to that Sprint is in violation of ethics laws pertaining to the misrepresentation of insurance products in the marketing and sales stages. I spent hours on the phone with these two companies.

They claim that they did this to be fair because consumers w / low end phone pay the same amount. Fact of the matter is it is still illegal to make these kind of changes.in addition to that, the policy was underwritten when all the current technology was out there and in consumers hands-meaning that premium and deductible was made to cover the high end phones. If they really wanted to be fair they would DROP the deductible of the low end phones, not keep consumers w / low end paying to much and raise the the deductible of high end phones so that EVERYONE IS PAYING TOO MUCH. The people in the entry level customer service tried to tell me I do not know the insurance laws and I am wrong. Ok, well you work in the entry level customer service call center. I sell health, life, disability, property and casualty insurance and annuities... So who do you think is more knowledgeable in the laws. Oh and I did tell these very same people that I am licensed in this state to do so so the fact that they had the nerve to sit there and tell me I don't know what I am talking about is just plain stupid.

So to sum things up, BEWARE CONSUMERS! Sprint, togeather with asurion, will market these insurance products to you and then, for all you know, will decided to just double their prices.
