Poor Customer Service

Electronics and household app.

I have wrestled off and on with service from Avantek, LLC, based out of Phoenix, Arizona (www.avantek.net) for nearly three years. Since I live in a remote rural area of northeastern Arizona, I have very few other ISP options.

As others have posted, the clerk answering their phone is brusque, almost to the point of being rude.

At a range of approximately 475 to 675 kilobits per second, Avantek's Internet speed is satisfactory, although it is not nearly as fast as many cable or DSL connections. Yet Avantek's price of $44.95 per month is considerably more costly than dial-up connections.

My chief complaint with Avantek is their practically nonexistent customer service. Avantek provides repair service to our community one day a week (usually Thursday or Friday) with no apologies nor any attempt to provide more frequent service. For those in our community who experience a service problem arising on Saturday, this means a wait of five to six days! Furthermore, Avantek provides no compensation for down time in the way of a credit applied towards the monthly fee.

After my outgoing e-mail service went down last Sunday night (6/15/08), I sent two e-mail messages to Avantek's technical department, one on Monday and a second on Tuesday. Also, I sent a followup e-mail to Avantek's president on Tuesday. As of 5 P.M. Today, Thursday, June 19, all three of those e-mail messages have gone unacknowledged and my full service has not been restored.
