Early Cancellation Fee After Five Years and a Replaced Box

This sounds like a problem a lot of people are having. One of my boxes stopped working, so we contacted DirecTV. We had been customers for about 5 years. They came out and replaced the old box with a new one.

I thought that was it until I went bargain shopping and found a better deal that DirecTV could not match. I called to cancel my service and they notified me that I would be charged an "early cancellation fee"... after 5 years!

I was never told I was entering into a new contract, and I was never given another option in the type of boxes they were installing.

I cannot believe this is legal! I hope someone gets these crooks!
