Sales rep. Position is a sham

If anyone is interested in a sales position with maintanence engineering out of fargo, nd you had better be warned, no actually run it is a crock! They lead you to beleive that it is a great job with so many upsides. You are asked to send resumes, contacted several times by phone and made to feel that this is a legit position. You go through all of this only to be told that you would need to put up $500 up front to start working. They say you will get it back after you have completed the training and sold $25,000 of lighting in your area. They claim that this is to ensure you dedication to the company and career. I thought that is what the whole interview process was for in the first place. When you voice your concern over the situation they act as if though they are busting at the seams with qualified canidates for the position... I bet! If you run into this run, what kind of company ask for new hires to put up $500 to join the team? Not one i would want to be associated with.
