AT&T - CCA Collections AT&T uses CCA collections who are rude and vulgar New York New York

After cancelling my ATT Wireless cell phone I got a HUGE bill because ATT claimed that I hadn't cancelled another cell phone line on the same account. When AT&T called I explained the proble, spent quite a while on the phone with them and they said they would have someone call me. The next call I got was from two of the most rude people I have ever spoken with in my life. They demanded that I pay over the phone with a credit card, would hear nothing of my problem and got more and more rude as the conversation wnet on and I refused to pay on the spot.

Finally he started getting threatening and while not threatening violence explicitly, he said something to the effect of, "So you won't pay your debt. Nice, well we will report this to the credit reporting agencies as a refusal to pay and it will add 170 points to your credit report. I hope it ruins your credit for the next seven years. Isn't that what you want. There, have a nice life." The words themselves are rude enough, but the way he said them was so mean and angry.

I am contemplating a lawsuit against AT&T and CCA because he certainly did not act within debt collection laws. If they put a claim against my credit report I will have to do something to get what amounts to a fraudulent charge removed.

The moral for anyone who wants to use ATT or CCA. Don't. I was willing to settle on some amount when I was speaking with ATT, but the losers at CCA were so rude I vow to never give them one penny. I would rather pay $600 in legal fees than pay these scammers the $250 they were demanding!
