Why does walmart get away with so much Ripoff

Electronics and household app.

Today I purchased a clearance TV. It was a Sony 50" Wega LCD HDTV and it was originally priced 2284.00 and marked down to 1000.00 dollars. I thought to myself "Hey, I can't really pass this up" Me and my boyfriend had been thinking about purchasing one anyway so why not get it at a discount right? It was a floor model display so it had no box, and no manual. I spoke with the young girl (who was the only associate on a Saturday in Electronics) I asked her if there was a way to plug it in so that I could make sure it worked she said she would have to drag it herself so no. So I was like okay I can bring it back if it doesnt work then, right? She said yes, so i proceeded with the sale. Now let me say that on this TV were posted only the stats and the price. No where on the TV did it state AS IS or anything of that nature. When the CSM came back to override the sale I asked her the same question about returning it if it didnt work multiple times and she also stated that Yes if it didn't work I could return it. So I proceeded again with the sale. I waited through credit card authorization through waiting for someone to help me move the TV and through them taking forever to load it onto my fathers truck (who is injured by the way) So I finally got it home got it into my house and set it all up. I went to turn it on AND IT DIDN'T WORK! A little red light appeared next to the work lamp which indicates that the lamp bulb needs changed. So I called them and spoke to Ass. MGR Pedro who argued with me that they are sold AS IS and that they were non refundable. You can't sell something AS IS that doesnt even work its not right. After some serious yelling he decided to give me the refund because I wasn't given the chance to test it before I left. Is this the type of business practice they are running where the customers have to beg for the right things to be done. Why? Because we continue to shop there and take what they are doing to us.
