Stuck With A Non-Refundable Gift Card After Terrible Cust. Service ripoff

I would like to place a complaint. I went to the Best Buy store located on Erie Blvd.in Dewitt, NY a few months ago to purchase a CD burner for my son. I asked for assistance to make sure I got what I was looking for. The guy was rude, not telling me there is a difference between "internal" and "external" burners. I ended up with the wrong one. Then I asked what the best CD's were and he said "well, they all play music". My son lives three hours away and there is no store in that area. He kept the CD's and they skip in the cold (his others play fine).

Now I'm stuck with $20.00 in CD's because I haven't been back there due to the weather being too bad to make the drive. Then, a week ago, I bought a CD burner for myself with a $40.00 gift card at the Carousel Mall location in Syracuse, NY. The burner didn't work — I even e-mailed the company two times without a response (I brought copies of that to the store when I returned the burner). I told the girl, who was the Assistant Manager, that I wanted the whole return (including the gift card) because I wasn't happy with the service I had been getting. She said it was company policy that I had to get another gift card. I explained to her (also explaining to the associate when I purchased the burner) about what happened at the first location and both responses were "oh, I don't like that store". With the experience, I do not want to purchase anything from Best Buy.

Now I am stuck with this gift card. I have returned defective items to other stores, purchased with a gift card, and was given the whole dollar amount for a refund. I am not purchasing anything else from Best Buy because I do not like the customer service and I will also tell everyone I know not to purchase gift cards from Best Buy.
