Starcrest Of California: QUICK TO RIP YOU OFF!

In late February, I placed an order for, among other things, a Bell & Howell Sunlight Lamp as I thought it would be useful while doing my homework and/or other reading/activities while seated in my living room (which has accent lighting only).

When the package arrived, it was in good condition (meaning UPS didn't stomp on or crush it) but when I opened the inner box containing the lamp and attempted to put it together, I quickly discovered that the lamp was a piece of junk (despite the B&H name on it).

Firstly, it's one of those that comes with a base, 2 poles that must be put together and screwed into the base and the flexible gooseneck where the bulbs go. Not only could I *NOT* get the gooseneck piece to screw into the top pole due to stripping, the pole that was supposed to screw into the base was the same way. So there I was, with a lamp that I could not put together or use due to the stripping of the hardware.

Secondly, upon phoning Starcrest, I was informed that *I* would have to pay to have the lamp shipped back to them if I wanted to be reimbursed what I paid for it or have a replacement item sent. THEY sent me defective merchandise, yet I have to pay to return it? And why would I want them to replace it? I need the lamp, but gladly will go elsewhere as I no longer trust Starcrest.

ANY reputable company would send me a pre-paid postage label so that I could return the item to them as it is not my fault that the lamp is defective, but in making me pay to return it (which will cost me almost $15.00 to do), Starcrest has proven to be anything BUT reputable!!
