Hewlett Packard
Notebook ripoff Hasn't Worked Right

Electronics and household app.

I bought a notebook from HP with Light Scribe technology. Taking advantage of their free financing, I opened an account with them and paid for it. My notebook still doesn't have the Light Scribe that I paid for.

I agree with other consumers on this site. I've spent over 20 hours with "technicians" in India. On two occassions I've had to just excuse myself and hang up. I could not understand them. A couple of times they hung up on me when I kept saying that I didn't understand.

I went through at least 10 representatives at HP until one of them finally helped me. Tech kept saying it was the responsibility of Sales to replace the notebook. Sales kept saying that tech needed to fix it. No one wanted to take responsibility.

Finally, I got someone who sent me a label to send it back to have Light Scribe installed (although I should have had it in the first place and there should be no "upgrade" required on a new notebook). When it came back it was deja vu. It didn't work and I had to call the technicians in India. After 1.5 hours they said that the Light Scribe hardware was not installed on my computer. The first time they told me that my hard drive did not support Light Scribe.

I'm still without the use of this feature, and I went with HP over Dell and others because I wanted this technology.

I had a heck of a time finding a fax number (which I've included here) and I faxed Mark Hurd, CEO and President, a 24-page copy of my "chat" with the technicians. I'm thinking about sending him the first "chat" transcript where they tell me that I have the wrong hard drive.

So far, I've been sent electronic messages and gotten promises of a phone call, but no one has contacted me.

I had plans to use the Light Scribe for Christmas gifts—so time is of the essence.

I sure wish that I had purchased this computer from another company, but I'm into this now and I have to deal with HP.
