Best Buy
Not selling what they say they were

Electronics and household app.

The family was visiting Las Vegas on the occassion of my daughter's wedding. My son wanted to get a Mother's Day gift for me so he went to the Best Buy store at 3820 S. Maryland Pkwy. To buy a CD-RW attachment for my computer.

When he returned to where I was staying he handed the bag to me and I put it into my car. Then I drove home with it. I was sick for two and one-half weeks after I got home, but then my other son came over to install the thing. As he was unpacking it, I noticed that the plastic was off the box and the foam packing was broken and missing in one place, but it didn't dawn on me as significant—yet.

Then my son said, "Mom, this thing has been used, but I'll try to put it in anyway and we'll see if it works." It didn't, and not only that it wasn't the correct thing that was supposed to be in the box. We repacked it. I called the son who purchased it and told him to contact his credit card co. He needed them to try to resolve this. I went to the Best Buy at 9369 Sheridan in Westminster Co to try to exchange it for the item he purchased.

The manager, Ms. Thom Rotor, in no uncertain terms, told me she wasn't going to do anything for me, implying that I could have been the one who switched the product. I even reminded her of Best Buy's published policy of accepting returns and exchanges from any store to any store and she said she did not want it showing up on her inventory.

I have two theories about how this could happen. One - a customer could carry the bad one under his/her coat and switch it for a new one, tearing the new box, stuffing the plastic and mising pc. Of foam into their pocket under the watchful eyes of the surveilence cameras. (LOL)

Two - an employee having access to the repair department and the boxes puts an old junker in a box and puts it on the shelf, stashing the new CD-RW in his/her fanny pak or giving it to a friend at lunch.
