Buy.com & inphonic cellphonerebates.com ripoff! False advertisiment! No rebate, not eligeble after completing offer!

After seeing the Cingular 8125 pocket pc I knew that was the phone I wanted and without a cell phone contract in the past, I was looking to start one with someone who had the best price to offer. Like many, I ended up at Buy.com with their unbeatable/unbelieveable price of just $50 after rebates when the phone on ebay alone was going for $400

I had many questions like any other person would about this offer and so I called buy.com themselves, and cingular. After speaking to both I realized the only thing different was that I would have to choose the second most expensive voice plan ($29.99) instead of the cheapest which cingular was offering ($19.99) and not buy.com, which was understandable for the price they had the phone for.

That was the only thing I noticed on the site and when I called BUY.com up until I ordered the phone and received it days later...

As soon as I opened the box I went for the rebate forms and there it was number 5..."Special Note: Customer must purchase the selected device and activate a Cingular Voice Plan $29.99 or higher with the $34.99 or higher Xpress Mail or PDA Connect feature in order to qualify for this rebate."

Not ONE of the time or on the site did it say ANYTHING about a specific data plan! I called up the number on the form (866-607-9877) they gave me another number... Which lead to another number... And they finally told me to call the first number... I finally was fed up and called the BUY.com number to no avail as well. I called the first number back up because BUY.com had nothing to do with this supposedly and finally spoke to the person in charge there. It all came down to this..."Sorry sir, we won't be able to help you with your rebate."

These people are the biggest scammers on the internet right now! On top of all that, BUY.com even charged me for the stupid free shipping! Nowhere on that site, on that page where the offer was, not in small or huge print, on the side or the bottom did it say that you needed to have a data plan, they simply started you off at choosing the second most expensive voice plan that was it, everything else was optional.

Honestly, I should've just went ahead and paid the extra money to start through cingular. But I'm not really that mad, I've cooled off now... I'm just gonna simply issue a chargeback with my amex and send them a copy of this report and they can bump into the other dozens that have been filed agaisnt this f*ed up site!
