I ordered a digital camera from Fingerhut in 04. Before the item was shipped, I called to cancel the order as I discovered something better and MUCH cheaper in a local chain store.
Fast forward 2 years and they are still trying to get me to pay for it.in 2004 I called and stated I didn't receive it. They said they'd send me an affidavit. Not only didn't they send the affidavit, they never sent another thing to me again. I assumed this meant the item was returned to them and they closed the account. That's not uncommon. I've had checks stolen from my mailbox and when I called to get an affidavit to get the check replaced, they never sent it nor the cancelled check copy, just a new check.
Now it's on my credit report postponing me from buying a home. I called and complained. They sent the affidavit. I filled it out and returned it and then got a letter stating I had 60 days from the first bill to send them an affidavit. I never received such an affidavit. They also have no proof I had the item. I told them they could search my house from top to bottom. They claim the USPS tracked it and stated it was delivered. However, I never signed for anything.
Now if I don't pay them $330 I can't get a house. They also used a collection company called ER Solutions. ER Solutions has called my house tons of times, I assumed they were a telemarketer cause the calls are inconsistent and they NEVER leave a message. Nor have I ever received ANY paperwork in the mail from them and they aren't even on my credit report.
I want to buy my house so I offered to pay a portion of the money they claim I owe to get a letter of satisfaction, then fight for the money back later. They won't cut a deal. They want the full $330 FOR AN ITEM I DON'T HAVE. I'm posting my complaints everywhere I can think of! Never purchase anything from fingerhut.
