NSF check on my account, they lost it! I paid. Ripoff!

Electronics and household app.

I was contacted by Cingular in Jan. 2006 re: payment request. Checking my online banking, Bank of America, I saw that payment, in check form had been sent by the bank on Jan. 10th.

I faxed a copy of the confirmation number but they could not locate the check. Cingular requested a copy of the check, it had never been presented for payment.

It is now the middle of February and Cingular wants their money. A three way call was made with the bank, Cingular and myself where it was told to me that perhaps because I was in an area of Texas that was going through final phase of conversion from AT&T, and that my check probably was not received and credited and also that I had been given a new account number in the middle of the billing cycle. (Never anything in the bill to bring that to my attention).

Also, the last bill I had, reflected the old account number. I told them I would not take a new account number over the telephone and as soon as they provided me in writing the new information I would change my online banking and the money would go thru a link and transfer electronically. The bank put a stop payment on the check, to return the money to my account. Cingular was on that phone call. They sent me the writen info and I paid electronically.

Yesterday, I called to check my balance at 10:30am I was told I had a credit. How can that be I asked? They had posted a check, the check, on March 10th, 2 months after the check had been issued. When I called back 3 hours later, they said I had a balance past due. What the HECK.?

Of course the check they deposited and credited was the check they lost, and of course it was returned to by the bank. They have now put a NSF check on my account. I have contacted the office that handles the emergencies and govenment requests for info and happened to get a caring individual after talking to Canadians all day. She gave me her direct number and assured me someone will call in 7 days. We'll see. If I don't get a call I'll post the number here.

P.S. Always say, "I'm recording this telephone call" whenever you call any customer service representative. I sent this little guy into a tail spin last night when I mentioned in the middle of the call that I was taping it. He freaked out, asked me if I was threatening him. It was quite entertaining... He suggested that I could not tape him without his permission... You can in Texas! God Bless Texas.
