Circuit City
Ripoff charged a restocking fee for defective product

Electronics and household app.

Tried to return a defective product to the store and was told that I would be charged a restocking fee. Restocking fee policy is not in written form anywhere in the store, on the reciept or on the website.

Asked to speak to the store manager and was told that I had broken the factory seal. How would one find it defective if they had not? No answer. The manager went on to suggest that I should have read the receipt before opening the player. I explained that it was gift and I thought it would be rude to ask for the receipt before opening it.

At the end of embarassing me in front of other shoppers I returned the product and am now trying to get my refund through their corporate office, but have failed so far.
