Dte energy appliance protection plan with greenbacks option - luxaire 37 yr old gas furnace

I have been enrolled in the dte energy appliance protection plan with the greenbacks option for approximately 2 years. I enrolled because at the time my furnace was 35 yrs old.
I have been informed by a furnace professional that my (now) 37 yr old furnace likely has cracks in the heat exchanger and likely leaking deadly co2 gases.
I called dte and talked to a representative. I explained this dangerous situation to him and informed him i was in the process of getting quotes for a new furnace.
I inquired if in fact the heat exchanger had cracks and rendered my old furnace as unrepairable would i be eligible for the $750 greenback payout form dte.
He informed me that if i read the small print in the appliance protection program that the heat exchanger is not covered under the furnace repair program. Theredore he said i would not be eligible for the greenback payout.
I informed him that i disagreed with him since the appliance plan states that if your appliance (furnace) is rendered unserviceable and cannot be repaired, then the greenbacks payout is due to the homeowner.
I need to peplace this furnace asap&it is a danger to me and my family. Dte is scamming homeowners with this bogus program. I will call their serviceman out to inspect the old furnace the day before a new furnace is scheduled to be installed. If the old furnace is tagged as dangerous and unserviceable, i expect dte to live up to their obligation and pay me th$750 in greenbacks.
Dte has a monopoly on natural gas and electricity in southeastern michigan and is acting accordingly.
The internet is full of similar complaints about this company and it's appliance repair program and the greenbacks option is a joke.
I have been paying over $35 a month for 2 years for this. I will be cancelling immediately if they do not honor my greebucks request.
