Nextel Partners rip-off! Non-authorized salesman commits fraud and Nextel not concerned. Ft. Walton Beach Florida

Over three years ago, an aquaintance of mine called and told me that he was representing Nextel in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He told me that he was being paid $100 for new sign-ups and was I interested. I had contemplated a Nextel and agreed to ONE phone listed in the Atlanta area.

On his next trip to Atlanta he presents me with two phones, both of which had been activated with Florida phone numbers. He told me there would be no cost for cancellation if I did not want them. I told him that I had agreed to one phone and I would transfer it to Atlanta under my work but the other one was not authorized. I called and cancelled one phone and transferred service of the other to the Atlanta area.

I could not get service on the phone anywhere in my area but I kept it through my year's contract period and cancelled it. At this time, a year later, I received a phone call that I owed Nextel about $600! I explained that I had upheld my contract. They then said that they new NOTHING about that but that I had cancelled TWO contracts and I owed them. I told them that I had never gotten a bill from Nextel and they proceeded to give me an address in Ft. Walton Beach, FL where my mail was going.

I explained to them that I was a single mom with small children so I would have no use for two phones. I also told them that I had NEVER lived in Florida and could prove it since I had been working for the City I live in for five years. They would not listen and were VERY rude to me and accused me of lying. I explained the whole situation and told him that the acquaintance was now in jail for fraud and I needed help to get this right. I gave them all my current information and was directed to the fraud department. I have never heard back from this department.

I was contacted another time. The lady was very nice and knew that I was telling the truth. She transferred me to account services where they agreed with me on the situation and tried to help. They told me my nightmare was over and I have the confirmation number.

NOW, a YEAR later I have received my credit report and there is a collection listed on it for $300! I have just remarried and we are trying to build a house. I had worked on my credit for years following my divorce and this has pulled down my score by nearly 100 points! I am assuming that this is for the second phone that noone could ever locate in their system! It is now jeopardizing my entire family.

PLEASE HELP ME!!! If this has happened to anyone else I need to know!
