Cashed check and did not deliver merchandise or respond to email

I bid on a video game for my son's birthday and won. How I wish I had checked the E-bayer's feedback prior to bidding, but I subsequently noticed that all the really horrible feedback came after I won my item. The seller would accept my personal check, so I mailed it and never received the item. He has not responded to any e-mails and his phone number is not in service. Additional searches on bigyellow.com list his phone number as belonging to a Nick Endrizzi. I am profoundly thankful that I only lost about $35. Still, I have a disappointed son and I am still as mad as a hornet. A pox on this guy, or these guys, because it certainly appears to be a small ring of rip-off artists.
