Scam

Do not use the site Academicvenue.com to purchase or sell textbooks through. I was selling textbooks on another forum and was informed about interest in buying them and that payment could be done through Academic Venue. I thought the transaction was risky, but the textbooks I was selling had no value to me and figured I would only lose out on the shipping worst case scenario, so I took the chance.

I ended up shipping the textbooks out and of course the buyer has a complaint requesting a refund and Academic Venue claims to be trying to settle the dispute. After some google searching, it's no coincidence that the address of the person I shipped out to also has other scam complaints. I even see a report on here that has the same name and address and it appears the person running the site is also acting as an interested buyer as well. He's going around on other forums to try and get people onto Academic Venue.

Academic Venue has actually responded to some e-mails when asked about what is going, but this was most likely done for damage control to make me think they are trying to get things sorted out. From what I can tell, he has opened several of these sites before and will probably make a new one once this gets some bad buzz.
