Ripoff Took $99.95 from my bank account without my consent or knowledge. Do not deal with them!

Ancestry.com took $99.95 out of my bank account with out my knowledge or consent. AOL is partly to blame. My internet service with AOL was not working properly for weeks. I work from home, on line, so this was a major problem. After AOL finally fixed their problem, they told me they were GIVING me, for free, software from Ancestry.com, to make up for AOL's lack of fixing their problem in a timely manner.

On 8-2-04, I reviewed by bank account on line, at which time I found the withdrawal of $99.95 with no explanation or reference as to what this withdrawal was for. I contacted my bank and they were able to identify Ancestry.com making the withdrawal.

I contacted Ancestry.com on 8-2-04 and asked about this transaction. I explained that AOL GAVE it to me, that I did not request, sign up for, or use this service, and I certainly did not authorize anyone to make a withdrawal from my bank account. After trying to reason with them in a professional manner I finally demanded a refund. I spoke with a man named Horhay, who informed me that they do not give refunds, but, would make an exception this time. Yes, he states that I can expect a refund in 30 business days!

It took them 5 days to take money from my bank account, but 30 business days to return it? I will file complaints against them where ever I can, and I also contacted AOL. Per AOL, this is not their problem to handle. Ancestry.com is just one of their associates.

Well Ancestry.com and AOL, be warned. You are being reported!
