Ripoff now they deduct their payments monthly for something I don't even use

I signed up for a month by month subscription. I have been unable to locate any information about my family so I called to cancel. I was told I must keep paying for a year because that is the program I am on. There was nothing about this on the sign up page. So now they deduct their payments monthly for something I don't even use.
