Very disappointed

Education & Science

I received an email from this company. I was given all kinds of information about the tutoring job. I agreed with everything we discussed about what areas and pay and where it was. This was my only job so I had to have my mom help me to get down to their schools to tutor.'Shelia' had emailed me an employment contract and W-2 form, and I never did sign them I admit. She also emailed me a list of the students I would be tutoring. My first red flag! I looked at this email and saw their names, grade, parents name, address, and phone number. As a parent myself, I was surprised to see the addresses. I asked my sister to drive me the hour and half each way 3 times a week to tutor them. She agreed it would be better since my car is in poor shape, have no cell phone, and pregnant. I did my job. The students grades was improving. The school system I was tutoring for was a major headache. I was having to contact all three school principals and was tutoring all at one school. The middle school wasn't even interested in having my contact information; I eventually got them to write it down. I went to tutor as usual later that day at the Elementary School. I waited on my students in the office then went to the board room to tutor as was set up with the principal of that school. The day ended I took the kids outside to wait for their rides. One of my students grandmother was looking for her in the office and they was some disagreements because I had told her husband instead of her which room and the room didn't have a speaker. She was relieved and understanding about it. I got home and gave my report of the day to 'Shelia' as always. Later on, she sends me a forwarded email from the Board of Education. It stated I needed a background check and they wasn't notified I was tutoring before I started.'Shelia' asked me to pay for my own background check. She eventually paid for it herself and before the results came in. I was told she no longer needed me to tutor them and they was supposedly complains against me. She lost her contract with the school and wasn't going to pay me. She made me think it was my fault she lost her contract so I tried to help her get it back by calling the Board myself to see what could be do. She emailed me again that day saying 'I complained and she was having a huge mess to clean up she never said she wasn't going to pay me but she needed to straighten that stuff out first and I had no idea what more problems I just caused.' It's been over a month since he fired me I still haven't received payment and she says now it's over the fact I didn't sign the contract. Why sign a contract if not working now though.
