Kaplan University
This school is full of incompetent people who don't know how to do their jobs! You will get scammed!

I signed up for Kaplan in January. I wanted to do Nursing but when i was told i could, they put me in open concentration because noone was available to get me into the Nursing right away. I was so excited to start school.

I got accepted into FAFSA and got a pell grant. I also signed up for student loans to cover what the pell grant did not. I got selected for verification and faxed over everything my financial aide advisor needed. After a couple times faxing it (he kept saying he could only read certain pages) he finally got it all.

My husband is in the Navy and got transferred to Virginia. They then informed me that because we no longer reside in Florida, i couldn't do the Nursing program. I took 2 classes and finished them through Kaplan. I then withdrew from the school in March because i couldn't do what i wanted through them. I was told everything would be taken care of through my pell grant.

It is now 2012. I am still trying to figure out how Kaplan says i took 4 classes, even though they can see where i withdrew before the classes started. I am being charged over $4000.00. I have been trying since 2009 to get things fixed. I recently got in touch with the ombudsman of military accounts and she informed me through email that she reviewed my case and submitted it for write off. Every time they finally see where they messed up by not submitting my verification after i sent it to them, they refuse to answer any of my calls or emails.

They took money from fafsa from the student loans i was going to use after my pell grant ran out, after i withdrew from the school and was told my pell grant would cover the 2 classes i took. I now can't go to school to be a nurse because im in default for money i didnt even know about. I was told i would get the answer in 2-3 buisness days. That was on January 20th. I have not received any replys or phone calls back. I don't know what to do anymore!!
