Money Scam

In May I started to attend CTU online. I stopped going in June. So therefore I only attended there for 9 months. Not even a year. I got an email notification that my 6 month grace period is almost up and that I would have to start paying back a student loan.

I called the school to get some answers, which was like pulling teeth. I finally got what they called a ledger of the account. On the ledger is showed where I was getting Financial Aid, a Liberty Grant, and a Subsidized and Unsubsidized student loan.

I then called Nelnet where the loan came from and they proceeded to tell me that I owed 14,000!! I was livid. I then called CTU back for answers that I still don't have. I then read over the original paperwork and what I don't understand is that in the first year it stated that you would accrue 5,550 in the loan.

So to my dismay I'm wondering how in the world did it get to 14,000 in 9 months. I have no idea if nelnet is a federal student loan place or really even what to do at this point. I'm pretty sure this is a ripoff and that they're just out to get money. As of now I'm still doing my research and figure out what to do because this all just happened.

So any advise anyone can give would be great. I've never been in this situation before and I really don't know what to do.
