Buy books to be donated to children's hospitals and the seller gets $15.00 towards an overseas trip for education

Education & Science

I was scammed this weekend by a young man and his friend. He said he was selling books that would be donated to local children's cancer hospitals and he would earn $15.00 of each sale to put towards an overseas trip for his education. Said he was going to UCLA and was 20 years old. He and his friend were very chatty and had a lot of good answers for the questions I asked.

He said he lived on my street at the other end and gave his address when I asked.

Later, I checked the address and found that he had lied to me. I stopped payment on my check.

I am so angry at myself for being taken, I should know better.
