I enrolled in the Katharine Gibbs School in Norristown, PA in 2003. I took out federal loans totaling $6,000, and my parents co-signed for me. I was told I would not have to take out anymore loans.
In June of I was called into the financial aid office to discuss my tuition. I was told I was $9,000 short and had exhausted my federal funds. I was also told that I had no other option but to take out private loans.
I was told that if I did not take out the private loans I could not continue my attendance, so I agreed to take out private loans. I did not know what I was getting into at the time.
The lender for my private loans is Sallie Mae. My interest rates are 10% and 14%. Currently, they are in default status. Sallie Mae continually harasses me, threatens me, etc.
I feel that the Katharine Gibbs School should be held responsible for the debt because they forced me to take out those loans under duress. My life and my credit are ruined.
