Unauthorized charges to credit card

Found charge of $129.99 on credit card statement for PC Safety Plus, an unknown company. Called the number on the statement and talked with rep. Was told I had cashed a check a year ago which automatically subscribed me to their CREDIT CARD FRAUD services! And the $129.99 was a renewal charge. This was absolutely false.

They said my account had been cancelled because my credit card company had refused payment. Also false since it was there in black and white on my statement. The CC company said it had been paid and I needed to get PC Safety Plus to issue me a credit.

I called back and the rep said I had to fax them something from my statement showing it had been charged and then they could do a credit. Like that will happen! My next step will be to dispute it with Discover.

I have since seen several reports of this company doing the same thing. I don't know what can be done to prevent it since they obviously have a CC number, name and address for me and have done it to others. I would never have read the complaint about them unless it had already happened.
