The truth about what a fraud The Mortgage Store is

Education & Science

I am a former TMS employee and I have a few facts that I would like to share with everyone. I thought it was actually funny to read that The Mortgage Store (TMS) hands out "Charge More" T-shirts but I thought it was funnier when I read Mr. Jason Rauschelbach's rebuttal. I have one of these "Charge More" T-shirts, it actually reads "Charge More University" and it was a joke around TMS as they were handed out when you "charged a large number of fees" to a customer. The part that I thought was absolutely ridiculous was reading J.R.'s quote "No employee was ever denied earned compensation, even after leaving our employ" this is false and I am holding my $6,600 payroll check that TMS stopped payment on to prove that it is a false statement.

I resigned my position with TMS on August 15th and the reason that I resigned with TMS was because of all the fraudulent activity that took place not only in the Kansas City office but in all of TMS's offices. I personally witnessed the shedding of customer "turn downs" (they are required by law to remain on file for a period of 24 months). I also personally witnessed Title America USA (a TMS owned and operated title company) removing liens off of customer's titles so that TMS could close the loans without actually satisfying these liens.

I was informed by several current and previous employees of TMS that although before my start of employment with TMS they operated business and closed loans in the State Of Missouri without a Missouri License (September). I am willing to bet that this is illegal also. The list goes on, I was shown proof from several employees that TMS stole money out of their 401K and in 2003 TMS didn't pay in social security and while I understand that they had to pay an extremely hefty fine you can see what kind of company this is.

When I worked for TMS I was awarded a wrist watch for setting TMS's company record for the most amount of fees charged in a month. Although it took me pulling teeth to get J.R. To actually purchase the watch for me I was even more surprised to see TMS deduct this award out of my paycheck. TMS is famous for when an employee quits or is terminated they will charge you back for "appraisals" and I got to experience this first hand also. TMS has signed agreements with appraisal companies know as "TMS approved appraisers", these appraisal companies agree that if a loan that they do an appraisal on doesn't close then the appraiser will eat the cost of the appraisal and no one will actually be charged. These companies bump their appraisal charge to make up for the one's that don't close, therefore you can imagine my surprise when I was personally charged back for three appraisals that were all on "TMS approved appraisers list".

My time of employment with TMS was brief, I knew that I didn't want to continue working for a company that treated it's customers and employees they way that they did. It has been over a month since I resigned with TMS and they still owe me nearly $4,500. I have to agree that not only does TMS "charge more" to their customers they also "charge more" to their employees.
