Ugly, harrassing, out of control, "phishing" telephone calls ripoff Toledo

I had a voice mail from a "lady" with a New York accent named Amy. She mentioned my father's name. He's been dead since 1963, by the way. And said that there was a problem with money owed by someone who could possibly be one of his relatives and wondered if he had legal representation in this matter. She left a case number and a telephone number beginning with area code 954.
I returned the call the next day and a man answered the phone at the number they gave me by saying "Hello". I thought it strange they didn't answer with a business name. I asked him who was I speaking with. He didn't tell me just wanted my case number, which I gave him. He put me on hold, when he re-appeared he couldn't locate anything under that case number and asked for a SS# and I refused to give it to him. He asked if I had an extension # and I told him no, but I had a name, Amy.

He put me on hold again and a few minutes later, Amy came to the phone. She couldn't talk then she said she had about 30 people on hold and she had to go upstairs to get the information. She asked for a number where she could call me back and I gave her my home phone number, which she clearly already had.

About 15 minutes later (didn't take long to discharge those 30 calls, did it?). I told her that I didn't know who she was and I wanted to know who I was talking with, and I didn't know why she was calling.

She became very beligerent and UGLY. She responded by saying you know who I am, you know exactly who I am and you know why I'm calling. And, she continued the rant. Then she went into a senario where I owed money and had defaulted blah blah blah.

Once again I told her I had no idea what she was talking about.

She asked for the case number, once again I gave the number they left me. She told me that was an incorrect number and she couldnt' do anything until I gave her the correct number. I told her that was the number she left and she was really indignant. (At the beginning of the conversation I had given her my name as well as the other name she had mentioned.)

She then asked me for MY SS#. I told her I wouldn't give it to her because from what I understood I wasn't the one being pursued for collection. Then she asked me for my name. I told her she didn't EVEN KNOW or remember who she was talking to and I refused to give her any additonal information and hung up.

My daughter and I then went online to Google their phone number (they still had never identified themselves) found their "name" and continued our research.
These people are absolutely out of control. Nothing they are doing is legal!
