Publisher Business Services
Massive ripoff and stong arm theft

Education & Science

This company calls you and offers to give you FREE magazine subscription in exchange for taking a survey. Mistake. They send you magazines, not necesarily the ones you want and then try to bill you for it.

When you refuse to pay the bill they put you into thier internal collection division which operates against Federal Fair Debt Collection Act rules (FDCA). They contact you by mail and phone. Phone calls come to any phone number they can connect to you and they call them up to 3 times a day 7 days a week.

When asked for proof of debt (which we knew they did not have) they never sent it. Every time they called they were told to stop calling. We were assure every single time they will put us on the list to stop calling. Every time up to 3 times a day 7 days a week they promised no more calls. So as we can see they ignored that request which is a violation of the FDCA. Although it seems that they hang up quickly when you tell them you will be waiting outside for them by the palm trees in front of thier building. (Google Earth is great, sattelite images).

We exacted some revenge and set our fax to randomly send them a letter to stop all contact with us. This was set 1 to 3 times a day every day. They ignored every request. Again a violation of the FDCA.

At this point the company was guilty of criminal telephone harassment. We sent a copy of the faxed letter to them by certified mail. This stopped the company from contacting us as we know had proof they got the request.in the letter was included our complaint about them and a warning that we will file criminal charges against the company if we get one more piece of mail or phone call from them. Our local magistrate confirmed we are within our rights to do this.

If you are contacted by them, just hang up, do not get involved with this company. They will rip you off and harass you until you pay them. This is a form of strong-arm theft. If you are already having problems with them, take the steps below.

1... Contact the federal trade comission www.ftc. Gov and file a complaint against this company.
2... Send a certified letter with return receipt to them detailing and demanding they stop all contact with you.
3... Fax this letter to them also to relieve some stress on your end.
4... If you are contacted by them again after they get the certified mail, contact your local law enforcement and file criminal charges against the company.

After this they can only hand it to a collection agency. If you are contacted by them, request proof of debt with your signature on it. If you did not sign it, you do not owe it in most states. This will stop the collection company from going further and unless you owe more than $600 there is no collection company in the USA that will use a lawyer to collect under $600.
