I told them not to renew my subscription, so they billed me over $400 for things I have never heard of

Education & Science

I joined Ancestry.com for a free trial and cancelled it in early 2005. They never canceled it (and my Father passed away in January), I emailed them that I only had signed up for the free trial, but I didn't follow up on it because I then had to care for my Mother. I finally used it in January when I got an email stating that I would be renewed at the end of Jan, unless they heard from me.

I emailed them that I would not renew and now I have been billed for 5 things - over $400. I have been back and forth with them for months. FIrst they said they would definitely make sure that I was not renewed next year. I said that was not acceptable and finally just received a $200 refund. They now tell me I have to call someone else for the other billing. I said no - it is their error, they will fix it. What a scam. Be very careful.
