Sprint, shady billing pratices, rip off

I had signed up for a wireless notebook card which turned out not be a very good deal. I called to cancel my service and was told I have three months left on an "implied contract". Implied meaning I had not actually signed anything. I was told if I canceled at that time I would be responsible for a $150 early termination fee. To avoid the termination fee I must wait until AFTER the contract ends to cancel.
I made each monthly payment and called to cancel my service once the "contract" ended. At which time I was told I must pay for another full month of service. I had called on the first day of the new billing cycle which was Dec. 8th and was told I now have to pay up until Jan. 7th. Another full month!
I explained to the service rep that I was told, by them, to wait until AFTER my contract was over to cancel so I would not incur any more charges. Now my contract is over and I am canceling the service, which I have not even used for several months. I do not want an additional month of service and certainly don't want to pay any more money. I was told that is their policy and there is no way to work around it and no one else can help me because it is impossible to break company policy.
I had followed their instructions to avoid any additional charges and am now told it will cost me more money and there is nothing I can do about it.
Shameful!!!
