Advantage America
Ipoff Fraudulent, Lying, Con for unavailable grant money

Education & Science

I currently enrolled into college and have been looking for scholorships and grant money. My college said, "YOU DON'T NEED TO PAY FOR GRANTS."

Advantage America called me on October 5 at 9:50 am and told me they had $12,500 in grant money (money that does NOT have to be payed back). I was a little unsure about this so I started to ask alot of questions (how did you get my name and number, is this a packet that informs me on how to apply for grants, do I have to pay any money for this grant, what is your name, ID #, extension #, and so on).

I got the persons telephone number, ID number, extension number, and they took down some of my information (address, name, etc.) He imediately transfered me to the verification department. The woman put me onto a machine which verified my previous information and asked for my account number.

Immediately, I started asking what they needed this for. She told me for my one time fee of $49.95 just for processing my application and paperwork. I asked again if this was a packet to show me how to recieve grant money, and she said NO. I then asked if I was dissapointed with the information I recieved in the mail if I would be rembursed the $49.95 fee and she said YES. So I went on with the machine.

The money was withdrawn from my account immediately and I recieved the information on October 11. When I opened the letter to find that this is a informational packet on how to apply for grants and that they were also going to withdraw $299.95 after 7 days. I called the only number on the letter to contact them. It was customer service and I told the girl I wanted to cancel and have the $49.95 rembursed. She told me the money was non-refundable and that she would cancel my account. I told her that I was told it could be rembursed. She again did the broken record.

I asked to speak to the manager and she told me the only person I could talk to was her. I asked to speak to one of the two people who spoke to me on October 5 and gave her their names, extension #'s and ID #'s and she again said that she was the only person I could talk to. I was conned, and I want rettribution.

This is a scam, don't fall for it!
