Ripoff

On March 17, I recived a call from one Dennis Parker of the so called Gov, t Grants Dept. Mr. Parker stated that each year the U.S. Gov't hands out grants of minimum $5000 to random citizens. Mr. Parker then stated that I was due to recieve my grant money on March 18. Then he asked if I had a valid checking account and if I had filed taxes at least once in the past three years. I stated that I have a checking account and have been filing taxes since I was 14. Mr. Parker then asked for my bank name, routing #, & account #. I told Mr. Parker that I do not like to give my account information over the phone, and explained to him that I had recently recived multiple phone calls from several different people about reciving a grant. I informed Mr. Parker that these people required anywhere from $199.00 to $350.00 in order to recieve my grant. Mr. Parker stated that he understood my concern and told me to empty my account as soon as the phone call ended. I then gave Mr. Parker my account information, but used an account that is empty, and will be soon be closing. Mr. Parker stated that I will be recieving a packet with information on how to apply for additional grants. He then stated that there will be a one time fee of $279.50 for shiopping & handling. I proceded to question this fee and Mr. Parker stated that the fee will only be charged after I recieve my grant money, and that if for some reason, I do not recieve the grant money, the fee will not be charged. I have been monitoring the account, and as yet have not seen any activity, money in or out.
