Took my money but never completed the work and did a bad jo

I signed a contract with Eriks Rinkis to renovate my kitchen. According to the contract, he was going to complete the renovation within a one month period.

I paid the requested down payment. Aside from that, I paid in advance for materials.

Within six months, only about 70% of the renovation was done and about 95% of the money paid, plus materials paid in full.

The rest of the money ($300) was supposed to be paid after the work was completed. However, he never finished the job.

During the last few weeks, he came one day a week and stayed for fifteen minutes and left. When he complained, he told us that he knows the law and knows that there is nothing we can do against him.

Two weeks before we filed a complaint at the Small Claims Court, the contractor requested the rest of the money without completing the agreed work.

I had refused to pay for the unfinished work.

We won the small claims court judgment but have yet to receive any payment from him.

Two estimators that we called in told us that we would need to pay about $5000 more to fix and finish his bad job.
