2003 f350d

I bought a 2003 f350d 6.0. It worked great up till this month in may. I was driving it and suddenly it smoked black the temp went high and the truck suddenly shut down... I had it towed to the dealership to find the problem. This is what they said... I have no compression in the engine, the block may be cracked and the pistons are shot... How could this have happened... We changed the oils and all the fluids on a more then regular basis. The dealer said it would cost about 22000$ for a new engine or 8500$ for a rebuild one and then tag on the rest to put it in... What is wrong with my truck. It only has 21000klm and i dont have an engine. I also have a 2000 f350 7.3l but im seriously starting to look at ford in a bad way and i dont want to do that... How much more money do i have to spend on ford before i think of them as a shitty deal on trucks.
