Don kiggins bills more than estimated price

I contracted Don Kiggins to extend a foundation out and a concrete pad for a deck. I was building a house so Don told me he could also frame the home and shingle it. One contractor for to close up the house. Thought fine, this was a mistake. The cost to frame the house was 10k, his framer did a few extra things and we settled on 11k. The pad and foundation were estimated at 6500, we did extend the pad so I expected more.

When the work was complete he presented me a bill for 13k for the framing and more than doubled the concrete bill, 12k plus the 5500 already paid. He wanted to charge me for a truck and a skid the he left on the site. He used both item for the concrete and to move items around the site. This charge was not in any bids and I was never informed he wanted a "standby" charge for them. The skid had a dead battery and required a jump to start. I used three days. His truck was broken and the brakes would not release.

One of his crew drove the truck around the block and blew two tires. He put those in the final bill. He charged me $150 to run to the dump, he was to clean and remove all debri. He charged $350 to dig a trench with equiptment I rented. It took him one hour to dig it and two of his guys two hours to clean it up. I could spend the next two pages detailing the bill but fact is that non was disclosed before he billed it. We live in Idaho, not Cali. Just avoid him or make him sign a full contract. HE WILL LEIN YOUR HOUSE IF YOU DO NOT PAY HIS BS CHARGES.

Also, water leaks into the house from the pad. I contacted him about this issue and he refused to fix it. I with held the funds from the pad until we settle. I will have to have another compay (acore) come out and trench the pad.
