ADT Home Security Scam, Shoddy Workmanship, Scheme to Make Money Off Customers, Charges Customer For Their Mistakes

ADT charges $25 -$100 to service their system even if it was their own fault.

I called to discuss this with them and their excuse was that they have to have a third party service the product as they have chosen not to hire their own technicians. This is quite indicative of foul play. This way, they don't actually have take responsibility for their product or service, rather, the customer ends up being responsible for any mistakes they may have made in manufacturing the product. Neither do they have to take responsibility for badly executed installations because they didn't install the product.

Any company that refuses to fully stand behind its product, yet is willing to lock you into a contract is one to be wary of. They put you in a 3 year contract that is expensive to cancel (75% of remaining contract) and voila! Easy ill-gotten money whether the product is as promised or not, whether you use the product or not! Now, all they have to do is sit back and watch the money roll in and have the appearance of customer support at a toll free number, but if the product malfunctions, what good is it?

You are still screwed if A. You cancel the service, paying money for a product you didn't get due to the termination fees, B. Accept the loss of service because you don't want to pay them to fix their own mistakes, wasting money on your monthly payments or C. Hire an outside service to do it for you, again, spending money for a problem inflicted upon you by the company itself.

Is it really worth the risk? No. We will not be renewing our contract. At every opportunity, we will be sharing this observation with everyone we know to warn them.
