Will Paulson-owner company took a 50% deposit, never started the project and initially offered a refund and then reneged on his word

Will Paulson was contracted to build a kitchen table in his custom wood working shop. He came highly referred as a 4th generation woodworker. He required a 50% deposit, approximately $6200.00. The frustration came when almost 4 months into the project he never started any of the work. At that point we all agreed he was too busy to take on our project so he agreed to give us a full refund. About a year went by, we never saw any money. We met with him again agreed to start over with a clean slate, but again he delayed the start of the project, claimed he couldn't get wood for the project which is ironic as he is a woodworker. We asked him to forget the project and give us our money back, he got very upset with us and told us we were not welcome in his shop again and we never heard from him again. I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau and the Suffolk County consumer affairs division but he ignored both agencies. That is his tactic to ignore any correspondence. Please help
