Perfection Roofing and Siding
High Pressure Salesman, BEWARE

Construction & Repair

I contacted the owner of the roofing company and agreed to meet at my residence at a time which would be good for the both of us. Half an hour before the agreed time, he cancelled and asked if we could re-schedule for the following day, which, being a flexible customer, I agreed to.

The following day approximately half an hour before our second schedules appt, he called to push it by one hour. At that point I had waited at home all afternoon and he was starting to try my patience, but since I believe in making a decision based on good education, I thought another estimate to get my roof re-done wouldn't hurt.

I have to say, that compared to other roofing companies, he puts up a good show. Aside from the company we decided to go with, he was the only representative which took time to inform me on the whole re-roofing process and the elements of a properly installed roof. As well, he was full of pride showing me that he got 100% on a manufacturer-led internet test for roofing installation. Now that I think about it, I'm sure if I would take the time and read the whole manual I would be able to successfully attain similar results, but that doesn't make me a roofer, does it?

He then proceeded to take me on a few hours tour of the jobs his company completed, which most jobs were in a posh area of the city. Furthermore, he accessed the properties without consent of the owners, thinking that because his company completed the work it gave him the right to enter their property unannounced. To me that is not proper. He also introduced me to his family, which to me, was a bit much and later reflected as a very agressive way to create some type of bond between him and I (which I will get back to).

As we got back to my residence, he had me sign his estimate, which indicated that unless you cancel verbally or in writing within a certain time period (usually three calendar days); the estimate becomes a bounding agreement. As he already had taken more time than I wanted and I just wanted to reflect on the whole meeting before I took a decision, I signed the estimate thinking that I could cancel at a later day.

The following week, after deliberating with my relatives, we decided to go with another roofing company and I called Mr. Morton to cancel the estimate. As I was at work and didn't want to deal with this at work I asked hime to contact me at home, which he did not.

Although the property his company completed roofing on were visually appealing, I thought his approach was somehow unnerving and very pushy. Furthermore, after informing him that decisions in my household were a collaborative effort, he informed me that I was a "spineless" man that could not sell the idea to my wife and mother in-law. He went on to say that he took considerable amount of time out of his schedule to show me around, that he was the only roofer in Victoria who was certified by the company to properly install roofing in Victoria (a lie confirmed by my research) and that all other roofing companies were incompetent.

Needless to say, I would think twice about hiring this company and I would do my homeworks. If you enjoy being pushed around, this is your man.
