Purchased an iHeater back in Nov. At a home show and was told that would save money on my heating bills and cost about $1 per day to operate. I plugged it in a followed the very limited directions. When I got my bill the next month, it was $150 higher! My bill is typically around $100 - $120 dollars per month. It was $347! Not to mention that the unit worked very poorly - gave off very little heat.
When I called to arrange a return, the person on the phone was eating in my ear, and was very rude. She told me that I was not eligible to return it because I was 5 days outside of the 30-day mark. I then explained the situation about my electric bill and she agreed. Shipping however was going to be my responsibility.
After thinking about it for a few hours, I decided I wanted iheater to make good on their offer for free return shipping as well. I called back and was once again greeted by a rude customer service rep. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, he said one would call me back. When I asked if I would really get a call back, he said, "No, they're probably going to laugh at you for trying to get free return shipping."
I then stated that I might go to the department of consumer protection, he told me that I should, "maybe they'll be willing to help you, he said.
Here's another game they play: if you don't write your return number on the outside of the box, they send it back to you refused - so you have to pay shipping again.
The company that I purchased the unit from: D and W Marketing: nowhere to be found and they closed shop right after the home show.
