Buyer Beware! Don't let them steal your money

Called to have Whipple plumbing fix a hole in a small inactive water pipe. Totally exposed and only needed to have a (separate) 4 and 1/2 inch pipe removed and replaced. Simple task. They arrived late, then gave me an estimate ($65.00 service call fee and $480.00 dollars to replace the pipe). I explained that another company had come to replace a much bigger segment of pipe for an emergency water leak on a Sunday and chrged only $115.00. Their responce: " but were they drug-tested and background checked?"
I said " I don't know but they did a great job, and you are the one trying to rob me!"... So much for the background check
I was so angry, I went to Ace hardware, paid $5.23 for parts and replaced the pipe myself in less than 15 minutes. Saved myself about $540.00 that the Whipple techs wanted to steal!!!
