Ripoff dishonest fraudulent billing fraudulent ripoff business

To whom it may concern:
My name is Ruth and I live in Bear, DE. The gas company that I have is Amerigas. They are ripping me off and there is nothing that they will do about it. My last gas bill was mailed to them on 02/08/03 in the amount of $273.86.
Now on March 8th, when I wasnt home Amerigas came to my home again and claims to have delivered 217.2 gallons of gas. There is no possible way! There are two people, which includes me, that live in a Town home. We hardly ever have to run the heat or turn it up high since we are in the middle of two other homes. The day before they came, our gas gage was over 40%.
Then they came that Saturday and claimed to have started filling at 25% and stopped at 80%. You know what else is funny, they called that Saturday but we never answered the phone and then did not leave a message. Then we leave to go to Dover and come back to find a recipe showing that they came. On Saturday (the 16th) we get our gas bill and it is $497.40.
So they are telling me that two people went through all that gas w/in 45 days. There is no possible way. Two people who work all day and probably use the stove 3-4 times a week do not go through a tank of gas.
When we call them to question this they say that, that is what the meter said that day and that the day before (Friday) it could have read differently due to the weather. Well, that Friday it wasnt warm out.
It just started getting warm. Basically their response is there is nothing that we can do but pay the bill. How can a bill that was just $273.86 jump to $497.40? The bill before the February bill was paid on November 29 and that bill was $171.15. Do you see the jump here in prices and fillings? $171.15, $273.86, and $497.40.
