Don't obide by their own contract... They just want more money out of you

I broke my lease with this company due to needing a bigger place because I was pregnant with my son at the time. When I went to the landlord, at that time it was Mary, I stated to her that I am going to be breaking my lease because I need more space and she stated that is was ok. She stated that all I needed to pay is 2 months rent and that is it. After I moved out and paid the two months rent, they sent me a bill stating that I still owe them money after I already paid them 2 months rent for breaking my lease. When I called the office to speak to Mary because at the time she was my landlord, they stated that she no longer worked there. I feel like I get ripped off and they are now trying to sue me for 2,024 and I feel like I shouldn't have to pay that.
