Shoddy workmanship, slow to respond

I had the company plant the shrubbery around my new house. They charged me a high price and I expected a quality job. For the larger plants, they dug the holes with a power posthole digger, leaving no space for roots to grow. This is very hard, dry clay in which plants become root bound. Smaller plants were stuck into the bark ground cover with no digging at all. Many of them were pulled up or knocked over by rain storms, animals and even the hose being brushed against them.

None of the plants thrived, but most are alive. I will have to replant most of them. I have asked the company to replace 8 dead plants and they told me they would. But, I have waited this entire growing season and have heard nothing. My neighbor told me he had a similar bad experience, that being the lack of site preparation prior to planting. They stuck their blue rug juniper in the bark without digging a hole.
